How Do I Order?
All orders must be received via the shopping cart on the website. We cannot accept phone orders or mail orders. Credit card information is not retained and our shopping cart is set to automatically process your credit card at time of order submission to make sure it is a valid payment method. As a result, the financial information is never seen by The Dog Collar Store.
What is your Customer Service Number? How can I contact you?
Please use the Contact Us link in the menu on the left side of the store. It is the best method to make sure your question will be answered.
We do not accept or answer phone calls under any circumstances. We are located in California and we are unavailable to answer the phone during "traditional business hours". As a home based business, we request that you respect our privacy regarding phone calls.
As an internet business, we utilize the internet for communication. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for a response, particularly on weekends or around holidays.
What are your Shipping Fees?
For packages within the United States:
Priority Mail: $5.25 for the first item and $.50 per each additional item
First Class Mail: $3.50 for the first item and $.50 per each additional item
International Packages are only shipped via USPS Priority Mail:
Canada & Mexico: $13.00 flat rate, up to twelve (12) 1" wide collars
Other Countries: $15.00 flat rate, up to twelve (12) 1" wide collars

If you do not see your country listed here, please ask us if we will ship there. We may be able to do it and would need to alter the shipping options on the site. We will not ship to Italy or Nigeria.
What Size Should I Order?
The easiest and most accurate way of buying the right size collar is to measure the collar already on your dog. If it fits, compare the length AND width to the sizes listed. If not, make an educated guess as to how much more your dog is growing. Additionally, you can measure your dog's neck and add about an inch for smaller dogs and up to two inches for larger dogs.
Don't have a ruler or tape measure? Use a piece of string then compare the length to a commonly sized item such as a standard sheet of paper - 8.5" X 11".
Please do not rely on labels such as "Small" or "Large" unless you have purchased our products before. Every manufacturer and crafter have different labels for different sizes. Please go by dimensions.
What is your Exchange/Return Policy?
Our exchange policy has changed as of May 20, 2010 and applies to all purchases after that date. During our inventory reduction & clearance sale, we will not be accepting exchanges or returns on any sale items due to a high volume of incorrect sizes being ordered. Items are not stocked & are custom sewn when ordered, so are incurring double materials & labor costs when exchanged. Full price items & retail items are exchangeable. They are subject to the terms & conditions listed below. Please take a moment and either measure the current neck or collar size. Martingale collars are non-returnable due to the specialty nature of the products.
On full price items and retail items, you may return an item for exchange within 14 days of the shipment date. Items MUST be in the original, unused condition with all original tags attached if applicable. Items that shown signs of use will not be issued a refund. Handmade items are custom made upon order, they are not refundable. However, we will be happy to exchange the item for another size in the same fabric pattern that will work better for you. Shipping and handling charges on purchases and exchanges are the responsibility of the buyer.
We will not accept items for return or exchange unless we are contacted first & cannot be initiated until you receive our response. There are specific steps that must be followed in order to exchange an item. This issue has become problematic and there are no exceptions if the policy is not followed. You may want to insure your return; we cannot be responsible for lost or misdirected returns. Insurance and Delivery Confirmation are sufficient. Please do not do Signature Confirmation or there will be a serious delay in retrieving the package from the post office. If you refuse an exchange and want a refund, it is subject to a 50% re-stocking fee on handmade items to cover costs associated with creating the original items. Only one (1) exchange per collar. There are no guarantees on exchange delivery times. Buyer is responsible for all additional shipping fees.
Checks are not accepted under any circumstances, even during the exchange process.
Retail product returns are subject to a 20% re-stocking fee.
My dog pulls on his/her leash alot. Are these products sturdy?
Absolutely! Over 30,000 collars have been made and sold over the years. They are constructed of the same materials as dog collars in the pet stores but are softer and much nicer to look at! Our own 90+ pound dogs have been using and pulling on them for years.
As with any product, it is the consumers responsibility to determine the use of the product and appropriate supervision. The Dog Collar Store will not be held liable for any incidental, indirect or consequential damages arising from the sale, resale, use or misuse of its products.
I need a different width and length combination on a custom collar. Is this possible?
Probably, just ask us. Collars are available in widths of 5/8", 3/4" and 1" wide. We can usually adjust the length as needed, as each item is made from scratch. Use the Contact Us/Feedback Form to let us know what you need. Please keep in mind that this is for custom handmade items only. We cannot alter retail items.
